What is Rolfing?

Why the name Rolfing?

Developed after Dr. Ida P. Rolf in the 1950’s, Rolfing Structural Integration is bodywork that reorganizes your whole connective system from head to toe. Fascial restrictions accumulate due to stress and injury creating pain and inhibiting movement. The body regains integrity so you can move efficiently and get out of pain.

What Conditions Can It Help?

Hands on bodywork is custom to each individual:

  • Immediate freedom from pain
  • Low, mid and upper low back pain relieved
  • Arm, hand and cervical pain relief
  • Different headache types addressed
  • Improved range of motion in shoulders, hips, knees and ankle/feet
  • A balanced, mobile body left to right
  • Drug free therapy

Every compensation pattern can benefit from Rolfing

Rolfing Benefits

Alleviate Pain

That nagging pain or discomfort you’re trying to get rid of is most likely caused by imbalances throughout your entire structure, not just the symptom that hurts.

Move Better

Rolfing allows the body to realign to center so your movement becomes more efficient.

Feel Younger

A realigned body will have more energy! This also gives us freedom to do more. Aged clients usually feel much younger.

Rolfing Compared

Massage Therapy

Rolfing addresses pain and structural issues, not just symptoms. Long term relief from pain is expected. Symptoms disappear as the process builds on consecutive sessions.

Chiropractic

Rolfing relieves the body of soft tissue restrictions which may pull the bones out of place and create pain. It does not overstimulate the nervous system.

Physical Therapy

Structure doesn’t work without function and vice versa. The nervous system is free to move muscles easier. Old ways of moving are updated into our system.

About Me

Choosing to help  people feel better as a career was a transformative thing. The most amazing part is that it continues to be. I feel so lucky that I get to help you and others regain balance and flexibility. It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s rewarding, and every day is so different. My passion began with culture and Anthropology. I wanted to understand our past and our evolution so that I could help shape where we are all headed together. After doing some work as an Ethnographer for an Applied Anthropology firm I felt I needed work that was more hands-on, I wanted to get to the helping more quickly. I found Rolfing and the world of healing arts. It was the perfect beginning to a life dedicated to service and the potential of the human spirit embodied. Our potential is more easily expressed when we are at ease in our bodies. Let’s work together!
